Blanket Louisville . . .
The following article and photo appeared in the Courier Journal, Middletown Neighborhood's Section, on Wednesday, December 3, 2009:
"Sixth grade students at St. Gabriel the Archangel School, 5503 Bardstown Rd. , helped to load over 170 blankets they collectedrecently for homeless persons in the Louisville area. The project titled “Blanket Louisville” involved approximately 87 students in Mrs. Katie Bennett’s sixth grade religion classes and other parish members at St. Gabriel Church. The new and gently used blankets will be distributed to over 20 different area shelters before the Thanksgiving holidays. According to Mrs. Kathy Fehder, co-founder of Blanket Louisville, there are at least 300 families who live on the streets and who do not seek shelter during thewinter season. A group of local volunteers called the “Love Squad” will help to distribute the donations. The organization’s goal this year is to collect 7,500 blankets. For more information, visit the website at www.blanketlouisville.org."

Lending a helping hand….
Our Brownie Troop 81 got up early on a Saturday morning to participate in the Brightside Community Cleanup. They were responsible for cleaning one full mile of highway along Southside Drive. All volunteered to do this activity with the help of parent volunteers and troop leaders. The girls were Maya Turner, Megan Perry, Heather Sweet, Samar Seifert, Lindsey Bailey, Zoe Dowell, Sydney Miller, Samantha Miller and Rachael Miller.
Way to go….
On Tuesday, November 24th, our school will receive a trophy for our participation in the Walk for Life. We were second among schools with the most walkers, first with the parish with the most walkers and first with churches with the most donations.
