Congratulations to Star Adams, Abby Hayden, and Emily Smith for receiving an Honorable Mention for their writing pieces on "Which of the Seven Dwarfs do You Most Resemble?". Star described how she was most like "Doc"; Emily most like "Happy"; and Abby most like "Sneezy".
Blessings in a Backpack . . .
On
December 17th a charity event/cookie party was held with the 5th grade. The class collected over 65 backpacks for Blessings in a Backpack along with can goods. Father Jim came and kicked off the evening with an opening blessing and it was followed up with a Holiday Cookie Party. Nick Metry entertained with music, and Wesley Dosch created the invitation that went out to the entire 5th grade. This party was put together by a group of our 5th grade boys. KAAC 6th Grade Showcase . . .
Our students competed in the KAAC 6th Grade Showcase on Saturday, December 3. St. Gabriel placed second overall and second in Quick Recall. These students placed in individual events: Grace Morrison, 1st in Language Arts and 2nd in Composition; Morgan Dailey, 3rd in Language Arts; Ally Mattingly, 5th in Language Arts; Spencer Brown, 3rd in Math; Sam Robinson, 3rd in Science and 5th in Social Studies; and Logan Stone, 2nd in Social Studies. Thanks to all the teachers and Coach Michelle Bickel for another great season!Rachel Greathouse, 3rd grader, who will travel to Florida to compete in the Cross Country Nationals in December.
Thanksgiving Collection . . .
WOW!!! Totals are in and the student body collected over 6,000 can goods for the Highview United Ministries for our annual Thanksgiving Drive. We are amazed at the generosity. Mrs. Rohleder's 2nd grade collected the most with 387 cans! These cans will be shared with Fern Creek Highview United Ministries to restock their shelves.

Student Council
Our first fund raiser was on Friday, September 30. Students paid $1.00 and wore a favorite team shirt. We raised $515.80
On Tuesday, October 4, SC sponsored Wear Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness uniform break. Students brought in $1 and wore a pink shirt, socks and/or tie with uniform pants, jumper or skirt. All proceeds will be donated to a local organization that supports this cause. We raised $420.10
JOHN HOPKINS TESTING – We are pleased to announce that Ashley Bell, Christopher Corbett, Kaden Darbro, Andrew Littlefield, Marshall Metts and Taylor Warfield, 5th and 6th grade students, took the SCAT test last winter. Johns Hopkins University offers this opportunity with the Center for Talented Youth to those students earning high scores on the Terra Nova test. Recent graduate, Carter Mattingly (Class of 2011) took the ACT in April and earned High Honors for his efforts. Congratulations to all of these dedicated students.
CROSS COUNTRY – Congratulations to our girls cross country team. In the Gatorland Cross Country meet in Bowling Green last weekend, we finished in first and second place. Way to go Brianna Wolken!
