Introduction
The Vietnam Memorial was designed to honor all the men and women that served as soldiers in the war. The wall was designed by Maya Ying Lin. The Vietnam Wall is located in Washington D.C. between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The Vietnam Memorial is a different piece than all the other memorials because it honors more than one person.

- The Vietnam Memorial was designed by Maya Ying Lin, a 21year old student from Yale University.
- The idea to build the wall was thought of by Jan
Scruggs who served in Vietnam from 1969- 1970.
- There are more than 58,000 names of soldiers that died or went missing during the war.
- The memorial is divided into three different parts the Three Soldiers Statue, the Vietnam Women's Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
- The third part of the wall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is the most popular of the three parts, attracting about 3 million tourists every year.
- The Vietnam Women's Memorial is to honor all the
women who served as nurses helping the wounded male soldiers in
the war.
- The Vietnam Memorial is made of two black granite walls 264 feet and 9 inches(75m) long.
- In 2007, American Institute of Architects awarded the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as the 10th most favorite on the "List of America's Architecture".
- If there is a diamond next to the name then the person was killed and the cross is for the people that went missing.
- The names are arranged in chronological order according to the date they were killed or the date they went missing.
