History
The artist of the Korean War Memorial is Deborah Copenhaver Fellows.
In
1989 many organizations and business owners belonging to veterans and
other citizens were urging the Washington State Legislature who
authorized the first state sponsored Korean War Memorial.
There
were two reasons the project was approved: ''to thank all the citizens
in this state for serving in Korea, and to show the spirit of service
and the willingness sacrafice and dedication to freedom in remembering
those Washingtonians who lost their lives in the war. This war is
sometimes refered to as the forgotten war. That was probably another
reason unmensioned, because after they built the memorial people became
more aware of what hhappened.
