The World War II Memorial was made to honor those in the forces who
fought in World War II. Thought of by a veteran to help remember the people who lived and died for our country.

- The memorial was thought of by a World War II Veteran, Rodger Durbin
- 4 bronze columns, 4 bronze eagles and 1 bronze laurel within each pavilion
- 24 bronze bas relief sculptures along the ceremonial entrance, 12 on each side
- 4,000 sculpted gold stars on the Freedom Wall
- 112 bronze wreaths with armatures, 2 wreaths on each pillar, one on each side
- 56 bronze ropes between the pillars
- Took 2 years and 7 months to make the memorial
- About 4.4 million people visit the memorial every year
