In
1997 Washington D.C. recieved a fourth presidential monument. In August
1955 just ten years after Franklin's death, Congress made a decision
that they would make a memorial for FDR. It wasnt until 1978 that a
design was chosen for the memorial. Lawrence Halprins design was the
chosen design for the memorial.
FDR's
memorial includes statues of FDR him self and his wife. They have
statues of Americans lined up to recieve bread because they are struck
poor from the Great Depression. The memorial includes many of FDR's
famous quotes. Many statues of him show him in his wheelchair which he
rarely let people see or know that he needs a wheelchair.
