Introduction

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial was established to praise Thomas Jefferson for his words that shaped American ideals. Many of these words are inscribed across the walls of this impressive memorial. It is a place of liberty for all the people of America. The statue for the memorial was built by Rudolph Evans. It was built at the bank of Potomac River Tidal Basin. There was much controversy over the place ment because of some Japanese Cherry Blossom. No major changes were made after its dedication in 1943. Although the most important change was changing the statues which were switched when the World War II restrictions on metal were lifted.
