       Experience: Sandy Weber

                 Mrs. Sandy Weber comes to us from St. Margaret Mary and Westport High Schools, where she grew up.  Mrs. Weber shares her many talents with the school, through her involvement in Future Problem Solving (4 years), the St. Gabriel Children's Choir, Angel Schola, (7 years), as a Health Promotion School of Excellence Teacher, and as a SHINE teacher.  She has won numerous awards and recognitions including two Aegon Grants, the American Lung Association Great American Smoke Out Slogan Contest Winner, and an American Lung Association Grant.

      

 Mrs. Weber and her husband Tom, have been active members of St. Gabriel parish since 1975.  Mrs. Weber served on the first parish council as social and public relations chairperson.  She also wrote the history of St. Gabriel's for the parish's 25th anniversary celebration.  Mr. and Mrs.Weber have two daughters, Marcia Weber Brey and Gina  Weber Hulsewede.   They also have three grandsons, Nathaniel Lee, born on August 15, 2001, Samuel Lee, born March 1, 2003,  and Alexander Lee, born on September 5,  2006, and two granddaughters Madison Mae, born on July 1, 2008, and Clara Bess, born on April 5, 2010.   Mrs. Weber enjoys playing the piano, decorating, walking and spending time with her family.  

 

       Homework:  Reading each night for 30 minutes.  Be sure to write a note when your child              is ready for the next  book.

                 PHONICS: Sounds for letters B, S,T, H, M, K, J  

                 ENGLISH:  contractions, and compound words, capital letters for proper nouns.                             

                  DAILY ORAL LANGUAGE:  Capitalizing the first word of a sentence, using a period and a                      question mark,  capitalizing proper nouns, using a comma if no, yes, or oh begins the sentence.                        How to use quotation marks when writing a story.   Using commas in a list of things or names.
                       

                MATH :  We are reviewing Kindergarten skills for the first couple of weeks.                                                                                                                 

                 Ordinal numbers, fact families for addition and subtraction, Making a bar graph, measuring with                    inches and centimeters.  

                 Adding two digit numbers, subtracting two digit numbers.

                Counting pennies, nickels and dimes, addition and subtraction facts to 12.

                Place Value--ones and tens

                 Using different  strategies to solve story problems, example, logical reasoning, drawing a picture.

                 Identifying missing addends in addition problems with sums to 12.

                 Fractions:  identifying 1/2, 1/3, 1/4.

                Counting by  twos, fives, tens

                Writing numbers from 1-100  Writing numbers 101-199.  Place value and writing expanded                          numbers.  

                 Using Fact Families to ADD and SUBTRACT

                 Using nonstandard units to measure large 

                         Adding two digit numbers with regrouping      

                    SCIENCE:  Life cycle of honey bees, tornadoes, wind and hurricanes, Frogs and toads, brown                                        bears                                          

                                       REVERSIBLE CHANGE AND NONREVERSIBLE CHANGE

              SOCIAL STUDIES:  Using a map key, understanding map symbols, working with a U.S.A.                       map, directions N,S,E,W.  Vocabulary:  using an atlas, using a GPS.   Animals in winter, animal                     homes.
