.ABSENCE:    If a student is absent from school for any reason, a signed note of explanation is required for re-admittance to class. If absent for 3 or more days, a doctor’s note may be required when returning to school. This note is to be given to the homeroom teacher. Students returning to school after an illness should be fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or other medication.

Important reminder:     When sending an e-mail with information about your child's day (dismissal change, doctor appointment, etc.)  you must copy to Mrs. Jacks  and Mrs. Janie Kurzendoerfer.  I always respond to an e-mail about daily information to let you know I received.   Mrs. Jacks and Miss Janie will do the same if I am not here.  We want to make sure everything run smoothly.Thank you for your assistance in this matter!

Please remind your child to follow the rules, to listen and speak with a soft "inside" voice.  We are using the behavior book now.

******    Be sure to read our handbook for rules.    Please note the medication policy  in Student Handbook.   Any type of over the counter medication needs a St. Gabriel Medical Form filled out by the physician and parent ( this includes cough drops, eye drops, Tylenol, etc.).
.Remember to use our healthy snack list  (Please use for birthday treats) when sending a snack for your child.   The list was given out at Open House with my August newsletter.  I have one student who has a nut allergy so please do not send anything with nuts for snack.   There is a table in the cafeteria for our students with food allergies.  Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

Belts must be worn with shorts and pants at all times.  Belts must be navy blue, brown. tan or black.  For more uniform details, see Handbook.

POWERSCHOOL:   When you log-on, please remember to do so as YOU and NOT as your child. Power School lets me know that you are staying informed.  If you have misplaced your log-in information contact Mrs. Kremer at skremer@stgabriel.net.

CHURCH BEHAVIOR:  Please discuss proper church behavior with your child.  We attend mass on Wednesdays.  The children are expected to sit and kneel up straight.  Their feet are not to be on the kneeler.  Please explain and help your child to stand, sit, kneel and make the correct responses in church.  Thank you for your support!

******A first grader should be able to tie his/her shoes.  If your child can't tie their shoes, please practice!    **********

Lunch time -  11:40-12:00, Recess - 12:00-12:15.  If you plan on coming and having lunch w/ your child, please write a note so we can let the cafeteria know so the appropriate amount is prepared.

Nut/peanut allergies: Please do not send any snack containing any type of nuts- I have 2 students with a tree nut or peanut allergy.    Check snack list (birthday treats) for proper snacks.  We eat our snack about 9:15-9:30 most mornings.

Box Tops - Please trim coupons neatly and place in envelope with child's name, 1-Wg(1st grade, Mrs. Wagner) and number of Box Tops.  This is a tremendous help to the parents who count and send to the company. Students must have 15 box tops to get a uniform break.

Take time (each week) to have your child practice handwriting.
Start letters from the top of the line and use the lines to form letters correctly.  If you direction for correct way to hold pencil, just let me know and I will send you a copy.
