Important reminder:  Any parent or adult assisting in the classroom, attending field trip as a chaperone, or attending a class party must have on file a certificate that they have attended the Honor Thy Children safe environment class and have had a background check.  For a complete list of training sessions  - http://www.archlou.org
Tim McGinity updates the list.  Most of my parents have completed this requirement.

Remember to use our healthy snack list  when sending a snack for your child.   The list was given out at Open House with my August newsletter.  I have one student who has a nut allergy so please do not send anything with nuts for snack.   There is a table in the cafeteria for our students with food allergies.  Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

Please welcome Mrs. Cathy Brock to St. Gabriel School.  She will be with us on Thursday and Fridays.  We are so happy to have her here!

Belts must be worn with shorts and pants at all times.  Belts must be navy blue, brown. tan or black.  For more uniform details, see Handbook.

Behavior Book -  We will be  using the Behavior Book starting September 6th.   Be sure to read and discuss the Classroom Behavior Expectations with your child (homework on August 19th).

POWERSCHOOL:   When you log-on, please remember to do so as YOU and NOT as your child. Power School lets me know that you are staying informed.  If you have misplaced your log-in information contact Mrs. Kremer at skremer@stgabriel.net.

CHURCH BEHAVIOR:  Please discuss proper church behavior with your child.  We attend mass on Wednesdays.  The children are expected to sit and kneel up straight.  Their feet are not to be on the kneelers.  Please explain and help your child to stand, sit, kneel and make the correct responses in church.  Thank you for your support!

A first grader should be able to tie his/her shoes.  If your child cant tie their shoes, please practice!

Please have your child practice using a whisper voice at home. When doing Centers (reading), we might have every person speaking at the same time.  Therefore, it is vital that we all use a soft whisper (inside) voice.   We will start centers in about 2 weeks.

Lunch time -  11:40-12:00, Recess - 12:00-12:15.  If you plan on coming and having lunch w/ your child, please write a note so we can let the cafeteria know so the appropriate amount is prepared.

Nut/peanut allergies: Please do not send any snack containing any type of nuts- I have a student with an allergy.    Check snack list (birthday treats) for proper snacks.  We eat our snack about 9:15-9:30 most mornings.

Box Tops - Please trim coupons neatly and place in envelope with child's name, 1-Wg(1st grade, Mrs. Wagner) and number of Box Tops.  This is a tremendous help to the parents who count and send to the company. Students must have 15 box tops to get a uniform break.

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER:  The link is above, titled, "Monthly Newsletter."
