Mr.
Christopher Huelsman was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He
attended Ascension elementary school and St. Xavier high school. In
college,
Mr. Huelsman studied education and received his B.A. from the
University of
Kentucky. It was also there that he met his future wife, Shannon, while
attending one of many Catholic Newman Center functions. After
graduation, Mr.
Huelsman worked for half a year as a full-time substitute science
teacher for
Tates Creek high school in Lexington before beginning at St. Athanasius
back in
Louisville. During his time at St. Athanasius, Mr. Huelsman earned his
M.Ed. at
the University of Louisville, taught for the Broadening Education for
Today’s
Students program (B.E.T.S.), and moderated for Quick Recall, Future
Problem
Solving, Governor’s Cup, Newspaper Club, and Video Game Club. At
St. Gabriel the Archangel, he continues to coach students in Quick
Recall, Future Problem Solving, and Governor's Cup. In his free time,
Mr. Huelsman enjoys traveling, eating out at local places, playing the
Wii, and
surfing the Internet. He is also an avid Kentucky fan. (GO CATS!) Mr.
Huelsman is happily married to Shannon Huelsman, who works as a
Physician Assistant in the Louisville Area. They currently have no
children, but are planning for some
in the near future. They are both current members of St. Gabriel Parish. When asked about his thoughts on Catholic education and life, Mr. Huelsman replied, “Our Catholic faith is a fundamental link to our past, present, and future community. To this end, it is important that we actively participate in the traditions of our faith and constantly continue to educate ourselves and others in our Catholic values. If we as a community can accomplish these goals then we will have truly given a great gift to today’s youth.” On a lighter note, he added, “The secret to life is learning to see and appreciate the little things that God gives you every day; and when you put your faith and trust in God, all things are possible!”
