Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to our St. Gabriel
Kindergarten Program. We are looking forward to working with you and your
child, throughout this upcoming year.
Please read the following
information before school begins. If you have any questions, please email us or
ask at Open House.
Our Kindergarten school hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Children may be dropped off as early as 7:25 at the gym. Arrival procedures are
explained in the Student Handbook. At afternoon dismissal, Kindergarten parents
will need to pick up their child at the cafeteria doors. We will dismiss the
Kindergarten students a few minutes early to avoid the traffic of the older
kids.
Please call the school office
by 2:00 p.m. if your daily dismissal routine changes. Please do not rely on
email for dismissal changes.
1:00 Dismissal days- Please
remember that the 1st and 2nd days of school are 1:00
dismissals! Early dismissals occur once a month. Please see the School Calendar
for specific dates.
Clothing- Kindergarten students are required
to wear school uniforms. The uniform code is listed in the student handbook. Belts
are optional for Kindergarten students only. Tennis shoes must be worn
on P.E. days. The schedule for P.E. is as follows:
Monday- Mrs. Adams
Tuesday- Mrs. Boyd
Tuesday- Mrs. Macaluso
Wednesday- Mrs. Flynn
Name tags- For the
first week of school, it is important that your child wear a name tag. The
information needed on the name tag is as follows:
Child’s Name
Teacher’s Name
Cafeteria PIN number
Dismissal Plan (ex: afterschool care,
car rider, bus rider with color listed)
Absentees- When your
child misses school, a written excuse must accompany your child upon his/her
return.
Field
Trips- We will be
taking several field trips this year. Parents will be notified of the scheduled
trips in weekly newsletter. We look forward to you chaperoning our trips. All
chaperones must have completed the Safe
Environment training and have had a background check.
Mass- Kindergarten students will attend the all school
masses at the beginning of the year. They will celebrate a Kindergarten Mass in
February. Beginning with the Lenten season, we will attend weekly masses on
Wednesdays.
Lunch- Our lunch time is 10:50-11:20. Kindergarteners will
have all the lunch choices available. Students may bring bag lunches from home.
Each student will have their own lunch account with the cafeteria. Your child
will receive a PIN number to use with their account at lunch. Please practice
this PIN number with your child before school begins. Students making purchases
will be asked to enter this number into a key pad as they go through the lunch
line. An example key pad is included in this letter (see last page). Please
practice.
Parent/teacher
communication is a vital part of
Kindergarten. Each Monday expect a newsletter to be posted online
(stgabriel.net) from your child’s teacher. Please take time to read this
information. E-mail is a great way to communicate with us at school (except for
changes in dismissal). However, we are not always able to read emails until
after dismissal.
We
hope you will be able to join us in some of our class activities. Field trips,
holiday parties, and class projects usually lend an opportunity for parent
volunteers. We will send home a volunteer signup sheet the first week of
school.
We
are looking forward to working with your child this year. With students,
parents, and teachers working together, Kindergarten should be an exciting and
successful beginning to your child’s Catholic education.
Sincerely,
Your Kindergarten Teachers
