Kindergarten Discipline Policy
To help create a
successful learning environment, we will be using an assertive
discipline system. This system uses colors that will be easily
understood by your child. Our discipline is similar to a traffic signal.
Awesome! (blue color) This may be earned by the child who has shown exceptional behavior for the day.
GO! (green color) You're doing great!
Caution! (yellow color) You are breaking a rule.
STOP! (red color) You need to stop your behavior and make a better choice.
Each day your child will enter the classroom with a green color. If an
established class rule is broken by a child, he/she will be asked
to change the green color to a yellow color. A yellow color should not
be the "end of the world" to your child. We all sometimes have a bad
day. The yellow color signals the student should monitor his/her
behavior and reminds the student to follow the rules. This color change
works effectively in modifying most behavior. Students who show
improvement during the day may earn-back their previous color. Should a
student continue breaking the classroom rules, his/her color will be
changed to red. If a child receives a red color, a note will be sent
home to be signed by parents. At this time, your help and support will
be appreciated in discussing the matter with your child. Conduct grades
will be updated weekly on the power school grading system.
Students who work hard to maintain their green color
will be rewarded periodically during the year. These rewards will vary
and may be presented daily, weekly, or monthly (see Leopard's Club
information in the Student Handbook for monthly rewards).
In Kindergarten we want our discipline to be as
positive as possible. We look forward to an enjoyable and succesful
year with your child, both academically and behaviorally. If you have
any questions, please feel free to talk to us at anytime. Thank you for
all your support!!!
